Poetry for Pierre Soulages - Lévy Gorvy - NYC
To celebrate Pierre Soulages’s 100th birthday, Lévy Gorvy is proud to present Pierre Soulages: A Century. This fully illustrated volume features a Plexiglas cover in honor of Soulages’s stained-glass windows at the Abbey Church of Sainte-Foy in Conques, and his lifelong quest to paint with light. Published in both English and Chinese, an essay by Alfred Pacquement, who also co-curated the Louvre’s 2019 Soulages exhibition, reflects on the critical reception of Soulages’s work internationally. An essay by Brooks Adams, also published in both languages, charts Soulages’s engagement with architecture throughout his career. Poetry by Sy Hoahwah and Virginie Poitrasson respond to Soulages’s life story and his work, while a comprehensive chronology of the artist’s life includes numerous excerpts from Soulages’s writings that appear here for the first time in English.
